I talk about liking reading, but rarely do it, it's just too time consuming, and you really have to focus. Atleast I do, If I want to get retain any information. With kids, that's hard.
I honestly find it hard sometimes, too. I find the best time for me is when I am trying to sleep. Usually I can get an hour or so of reading in at the very end of the night; but that is, as you say, if I have the calm or the focus to do so. At times I just don't.. just need to let my weary brain unravel on its own.......

I will never forget that episode. I think I would kill myself if that happened to me.
I grew up with a family that read. I started out with Dr. Seuss books that came in the mail, it was like Christmas when a new one arrived. I don't understand people that don't read, I think how limiting that must be. I mean, with a book you can travel the universe, visit parts of the world you might never get to see, get a glimpse into the genius of Stephen Hawking.

Been mine too, ever since I saw that episode as a kid. The thought of it!! Nnnoooooooooooooooooo...
Mom was a librarian. As a child, I spent summer vacations with her at work. I read enough non-fiction in 8 years of college to last me a lifetime. Now I read for escape, enjoyment and re-read Tom Wolfe's books. He is the great American writer. Not Mailer, not Faulkner, not Hemingway.
These days if you are reading anything on paper in a book form thats intelligent. I read fiction and nonfiction and my taste has certainly improved thanks to sites like librarything and goodreads.
