I chose the Kindle DX for all the reasons in the Kindle ads, but I wanted this larger version because I'm a fast reader and didn't want to constantly have to hit the Next button. I've had it for almost a year now, I use it almost every day, and my eyes never get tired the way they would if the screen were backlit.
I have a plain Kindle (don't remember the model name) and use it for reading books. I recently purchased the Kindle Fire. I read a lot of magazines so I got it for that reason. The only thing I wasn't expecting was how heavy it is. I read at night, in bed, and bought a case that it can be propped in so that I don't have to hold it. I'm looking forward to getting all of my magazine subscriptions on it so I can cut down on the stack and on killing so many trees!
Nook Color because it's what my husband has (can share power cords when we travel ) and share B&N account (his books and apps are also there for me to read)
Also - live within walking distance of our local B&N so when I take my daughter on her walk, if she sacks out in the stroller I can stop there and get a coffee , free wifi and respond to email.
