This is a girl who is planning to attend college in the Fall. Any suggestions?

What about a gift card to a local book store and let her choose her own book or books . Just a thought .

Anything except "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Seuss which has become a cliche at this point.

My first thought for a gift idea for anyone is a book, but I have to know them to know what book. If you don't know enough about this girl to buy a book for her, may I recommend a gift card from the local bookstore, or a gift credit card?

I did think about a gift card but also was considering maybe a book about adjusting to your first year of college, tips, advice etc. Of course there are tons of these books so does anyone have recommendations on this type of book?
Agree about the Dr. Seuss my daughter received several of that one when she graduated.

1. There was a great fun reference book a few years ago, specifically for things like "what every girl should know" or "what every college student should know."

2. A copy of the Synonym Finder. God, I wish I'd had that.

3. Miss Manner's Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Manners.

I love that you're getting her a book instead of a spa certificate or something like that.
