I am a reading addict and would never ever have though I would love my kindle sooooo much!
I take it everywhere with me in case I can snatch a minute or two and dive into a book. It's easy to handle even though it doesn't have a touch screen and no lighting. I have hundreds of books of all kinds of my favorite genres on it. It fits easily in my camera bag when on the road, in my handbag when out and about.
I still read many regular books. I have one on the coffee table and one on my nightstand. So when being at home I usually read a normal book.
But I would never want to miss my kindle.
Plus: the books are much cheaper than buying. At least if you only buy new books and don't go to the library...
I could never get used to kindles or any eReader, but it's been a couple years since I tried one. Books are good to me, plus I love the smell. Eventually I'll probably buy one, but I enjoy the idea of having a large library. When I was a child my father had a neat old library in our house and I loved spending time in there. I hope my children can have that same experience, so I'll keep buying books and build it up. But I'm not opposed to eReaders for any reason.
I would have loved a room with books on all four walls up to the ceiling. Instead I have 5 bookcases, two of which are built in.
I understand e-readers are difficult to keep staring at when the book is long. It feels like you have more freedom to set down a regular book and come back to it. No electricity needed. No tracking of what you read. I like.
I love techy stuff, so years ago when I saw a Kindle I knew I had to have one. I just love it. It truly makes long books a joy to read as you don't have to fight to keep the book in place. I also love that when I rest my eyes for a moment only to find myself waking up an hour later I haven't lost my place. I love that when I go on vacation for a week I don't have to cart ten hardback books along because....ya know I may just run out of reading material if I don't take all that along. Now I slip that little Kindle in my purse and I'm good to go. No more finishing a book when book stores are closed and having to resort to reading the back of a Cheerios box.
I must admit that I still adore hardback books and I'm fortunate enough to have a room that is used as a library. It is still a luscious feel to pull a beloved book off the shelf and curl up in my cozy chair by the fireplace with a cup of tea and revisit my old friend.
I have books all over the house. I have a stack of decorating books and biographies on my night table. My copy of Pioneer Girl is on the coffee table, along with many of DH's book, as I am still languishing in the pages of that delightful book.
My business is another spot for books. I have books on my counter as many people love to talk to me about their love for books. My office has a shelf of books, and I have a stack of books in the warehouse.

Reason: additional thought
Should some government entity decide we can no longer read certain books or some criminal or prankster just decides to be a pain in the azz and make the books disappear off the kindle, then could do that to millions of people in a few seconds but they'd actually have to come into my home and physically remove my regular books. I'd like to see them try.
