Ten?!? Holy sweetness! I have 16 on hold right now - mostly cds and dvds. I honestly don't know how many books I've checked out this year. We're talking over a 100, at least. Just a guess.

Edit: The above number doesn't include the children's books I check out for the kids I tutor, which are up to 10-15 a week. I use the library a LOT. We check out lots of cds, dvds and audio books. I love the library and have been known to make monthly donations since we aren't buying the books, audio books or cds or renting the movies.

I love love my library. I usually have about ten library books at any given time. I get two weeks to read them. I don't feel too bad as I usually don't get new releases. If I do, I read those first and return them quickly.

I also donate to the library and volunteer to help. I feel I should give back some considering how much enjoyment I get from their books

I usually have 3-4 at a time. "New" books are two week checkout at our library, otherwise 3 weeks. ALL are non-firction. OTOH my wife reads all fiction, mostly mysteries. By having 3 or more at a time I can set one aside if it's boring and just take it back quickly.

I usually take 3 or 4 at a time. We get to keep them for 3 weeks and can renew unless someone has it on hold. Magazines we can keep for only 1 week but I find that is long enough. I usually can only read one a week unless it is excellent reading and I just zoom right through it.

This thread made me laugh at an experience I had at one time.

Back in 1952 just back from Korea and starting College drove a late model Cad Convertible (No I'm not rich just like Cads).

Anyway, the car was parked around the corner from the College with the top down and when I returned from class found a book thrown on the back seat. Being a nice guy and the Library not too far away tried to return the book.

Lady says fhat it was way over due and there was a fee due as a result. I told her that I found the book in my car and was NOT the person who checked it out as during that time was in NORTH KOREA under Combat.

She still wanted me to pay the fees (some people are just dense) and I of course refused since I was only trying to be a nice guy and return their property so I walked out.

Usually check out around 6...

-biographies, mystery/thrillers and several on a historical topic ie WWII or on a specific country ie history to present. If there is a VERY good novel I will go for it.
