Default A Little Disappointed By James Patterson's Mary Mary

I have less than a hundered pages left to read of James Patterson's Mary Mary and I must say I am a little disappointed. This book was all over the place. It seemed to focus on Dr. Cross's personal life more than the actual murder case. I love James Patterson and I will never give up on him but his last three installments in the Cross Series have been disappointing. I didnt enjoy Big Bad Wolf or London Bridges as much as I have enjoyed his other novels. That being said I have the fourth and fifth installments in his Womens Murder Club series as well as Cross waiting in the wings. Any other thoughts on Pattersons latest writings. Is it possible that I have just read to many and they are all blending together? I dont know.

I did enjoy his Maximum Ride.
Found out recently that he has 2 more novels in the Maximum Ride series so I'll hafta hunt those down.
I generally like the Cross novels and have no complaints whatsoever.

He has a team or writers "apprenticing" under his direction, doing all the writing with a modicum of creative direction coming from the "celebrity author." This is how he's able to churn out a novel every four months. The price paid for quantity is, of course, the quality of the product.

I did just finish reading Mary Mary. The ending was ok. A big "twist".....never saw it coming type of thing. I must say the last 40 pages were the most exciting. I think I am taking a break from Patterson for a few weeks. Kite Runner is next!

Not of a fan of Patterson.. The only one I liked was Suzanne's diary for Nicholas. After that tried a coupla more books of his, but nothing that could keep me interested long enough..

The reason I finally gave up on Patterson is that I like the "bad guys" to be caught and STAY caught. I got very tired of the same monster showing up in book to book and after awhile it seemed that all of his books followed the same pattern.

Isn't that true for every story? With the possible exception of the movie Memento every story has the same pattern: a beginning, a middle and an end.

I was also a little disappointed in "The big bad wolf."
I generally like all of James Pattersons books..they are quick reads, before i know it i'm done with it. I like to savor my books, read a little here and there, make them last. It's hard to with his.

I view crime novels as a light snack, something to waste away time.
If I want some serious reading I read some books about philosophy or religion.
