Jack Reacher is Back in "A Wanted Man"
Am I the only one who didn't know Lee Child has a new book out? How did I miss that?
Casually went to the library today and oh my stars, what did I find? A 7-day copy of the new book, so now I can't do anything else all weekend except read. I would much rather do that than sit in a theater with Tom Cruise on the screen !

How cool is that! The library is making you read. heeheehee.
I still cannot imagine Cruise as Reacher. It does not compute.

I wholeheartedly agree. Off the top of my head I can't think of an actor to play the part but TC would not be in the top 50 if you asked me to make a list.

A Wanted Man came out in September! How could you not know this?! My husband and I have book radar and constantly use our Amazon wish list to track which authors are coming out and when. Even if we don't buy them at Amazon, it still makes a convenient memory jog.
And I refuse to see the movie...my husband is the weak one, I think he'll go off to see it on his own at some point. Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher?? No...never...
I wish Tiny Tom had bought the rights to the books and renamed the movie and the lead character.

I usually like Reacher books (with the exception of the 'prequel' novels) but I have heard that "A Wanted Man" is rather slow and drags for much of the book.
I think that I'll just wait until it is available from the Library for the Blind (often my DH will by the book and read it to me). Perhaps part of my reluctance stems from the whole TC movie issue...

Yes, it is a little slow, yet, I cannot put it down. Doesn't have all the mad twists and turns but Reacher is still very very clever in figuring out who done it. I am about 2/3 done and don't want it to end. What will I look forward to reading then????

The Jack Reacher books are very hit and miss with me. I find I enjoy the ones written in third person quite a lot. The ones written in first person not so much. Which style is the new one in?

Third person, if I remember correctly. It's better than Child's previous 3 or 4 offerings but not as good as his earlier books. I too prefer the third person Reacher books but even without that, his last couple of books just felt like he was going through the motions.

PhxBarb, you are not the only one unaware of the new Lee Child book. I just found out due to your thread here. Per Barnes & Noble it will be out in paperback in May of 2013. There is no way I can wait that long to read it. I just picked up the book today and can't wait to get started!
