There's Robert Crais, almost anything by him.
John Gilstrap, Start with No Mercy or Hostage Zero.
A few by Elizabeth Lowell, any of the St Kilda series - my favorite is Death Echo.
A few by Rachel Lee - she's written well over 90 books, only a handful are suspense. My favorite is The Hunted, and it's worth searching them out. Mostly she writes romances and her Conard County series is similar to Robyn Carr's Virgin River series.

I ran into the book store today and grabbed some James Burke & Robert Crais. What a treat to find so many titles set in my new city, New Orleans!

There were several I also tried to find, such as F Paul Wilson's The Tomb & several others suggested here. However, they were not in stock. Amazon probably has everything listed here. Anyhow, I'm delighted to have so many new ideas for good reads!

I have two great books for Lee Child fans. Check out Zero Day by David Baldacci, who has created the John Puller character, a top investigator in the US Army’s CID.

I was initially distracted by the obvious similarities between Jack Reacher and John Puller, including physical size and inclination to mix it up, but David Baldacci is a clever storyteller and quickly pulled me in with a multi-layered mystery-thriller littered with red herrings.

It's a very good book and I heartily recommend it, along with the sequel The Forgotten. IMO, if Lee Child ever wants to re-hab Jack Reacher and make him interesting again he should read the two Puller books.
