Not that the number of pages really matters -- except that I wouldn't want to spend big bucks for a puny book -- but I thought that it was odd. There was always an area, just before the reviews, where you could see the number of pages the book contained. And now it's gone.

I can find that information elsewhere (such as on Goodreads), but I found it odd that Amazon would choose to stop listing that information.

What do you think about it?

It's possible they offer a paper copy and an electronic version, and the number of pages is dependent on the format.

At first I thought the same thing -- that I was looking on the Kindle listing -- but I specifically looked at the paper book (whether hardcover or paperback) and the number of pages is just nowhere to be found. I find it so strange.

I haven't purchased any books lately from Amazon, so I wasn't aware of this. I do like to know the # of pages as if a book is good I like to have over 300 pages.

Things just got more odd:

- If you look on the book listing, the number of pages is not listed, as I stated earlier.
BUT!
- If you look on the Kindle listing, the number of KBs is listed, as well as the print length (number of pages).

Yes, I like knowing the number of pages when I'm looking at the Kindle version, but I also want to know it when I'm looking at the book listing.

Are you seeing things (or not?) or am I? Wise Men: A Novel: Stuart Nadler: 9780316126489: Amazon.com: Books

352 pages listed, right where they should be...

240 pages here Amazon.com: The Yellow Birds: A Novel (9780316219365): Kevin Powers: Books

I clicked on the first link and, no, it did NOT show me the number of pages. What the hell?!

No? Not right at the bottom after the reviews, where it says product details like the ISBN number and the publisher? I'm getting all that information. I made sure to go to the US Amazon and not the Canadian one.

Holy CRAP! They moved the section to AFTER the reviews. It used to be BEFORE the reviews. Thank you for solving the problem.

Affliction (ANITA BLAKE, VAMPIRE HUNTER): Laurell K. Hamilton: Amazon.com: Kindle Store

On the other hand, here's case of a page that DOESN'T show the page count. This is the newest book for Laurell K. Hamilton, due to be released in July 2013, I think.

I stopped reading this author several years ago, but around the time I quit, she turned out several books (at hardcover prices) that were very short. There were two in particular that were clearly intended to be one book - you could tell because #2 picked up EXACTLY where #1 left off, but #2 didn't have any of that exposition that catches the reader up to speed on the events that had had happened in book #1, which is usually the case in sequential books that were written as SEPARATE books. One of the books was something like 212 pages, and some of those pages did not contain actual story. I think the story started on page 8 or something. So the author and publisher sold a <200 page book for $26?

Maybe the decision to include or exclude page count is driven by the publisher. Here are 2 examples where page count is included.

Amazon.com: Here I Am: Using Jewish Spiritual Wisdom to Become More Present, Centered, and Available for Life (9781590308448): Leonard Felder: Books

Written In Red: A Novel of the Others: Anne Bishop: 9780451464965: Amazon.com: Books

And yet, here's one of LKH's old titles, and it includes page count (so that sort of refutes my idea that it's publisher-driven): Kiss the Dead (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter): Laurell K. Hamilton: 9780425247549: Amazon.com: Books

So maybe it's just a case of the page count not being provided if the book is still months away from release.
