Harry Potter First Edition Sells for Nearly $41,000 at Auction.

A copy of J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter novel sold at auction Thursday for almost $41,000.

The copy of the hardback first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," published in 1997 and signed "Joanne Rowling" on the back of the title page, was sold to an anonymous private bidder for $40,326 at Christie's auction house.

Wow... I have the first editions of each of the seven books, none of them signed, and I would love to know what they'd sell for in the future. I don't think I could ever part with them.

Wow, what a pay-off! I have my first editions of each of the seven books, too. Wonder what a set like this is worth?
