SO f-r-u-s-t-r-a-t-i-n-g. But, I'm still trying.
Wow, you have 50 favorite books? Please list some so we'll know what you like to read. I know, 5 is impossible. I've added on to my list a lot.

Fantastic book!
There is also a documentary film called "Dark Days" that covers the same territory - and even some of the same individuals encountered in Mole People.

Default Only five?

I have read so many wonderful books, it seems almost irreverant to pick just five favorites.

I must put at the top of my list:
The Covenant by James Michener
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - My coming of age book.
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper - My great romance book of my teen years and still a beloved story.

Heavens, but I have stared and stared and stared at this thread's title, and still can't come up with the 5 Best. I've even tried to think in different terms, like the 5 books I think everyone should read, the 5 I've enjoyed the most, the 5 of the most merit, the 5 I would want to be buried with . . .

Sheesh, but this has been an impossible task for me. I do appreciate the fact you all are making me think!

Maybe try installments of five? That way, you could make one on-going list and post at least five a week.
