Classics and good reads NOT on Kindle (authors, publisher)

I'm frustrated that several authors are not on Kindle and wondering if there is a way to petition them to turn them into Kindle reads? As an example I love the MM Kaye books and was wanting to convert my 2 very old paperbacks to Kindle and found they are not available on Kindle. I was also surprised that To Kill a Mockingbird is not available.

Any ideas how to make this happen and has anyone sucessfuly petitioned a book to become Kindle?

Scroll down to "Product Details" and on the right it should say:

"Tell the Publisher!
I'd like to read this book on Kindle"

Click that and they will forward the request onto the publisher. Books I've clicked this for have indeed later been made available on Kindle but whether my request influenced that decision or not, I don't know.

You can alternatively contact the publisher directly or see if the author has any contact options on their website but it comes down to who owns the publishing rights. If the publisher still owns them, contacting the author probably won't help much since it's not really up to them.

Also, this won't help a book get put on Kindle but with ereaderiq.com, you can add book titles to a watch list and be alerted when they are available on Kindle so at least you don't have to keep checking to see if it's been added.
