Barbara Parks, author of 'Junie B. Jones' book series, dies of cancer

So sad...I sold so many of these books, the kids just loved them and their parents who were (at first) alarmed by Junie's misbehaviors were completely captivated.

When my daughter was 4-6 or so we read all the Junie B. Jones book MANY times. They were wonderfully funny and entertaining for all of us. My daughter is 15 now and we unconsciously use many expressions from those books in our conversations. "Too bad for me" and "that smells like stink" come to mind. Ms. Parks was a gifted writer and I'm sure she helped many kids learn to love reading. I'm sorry she's gone.

Oh, sad. Those books were perfect for (female) reluctant readers. I can see all the covers in my mind now . . .

My daughter and I do this too!

Ours are "plus also" and a "huffy breath". For example:

"Dad wouldn't loan me his car, plus also, when I asked him why, he just gave a huffy breath"
