Everyone has a local bookstore in their town not talking about B&N or Books A Million. We have one downtown & in it has a shelf for banned books. Also it has a listing on why said book was banned. Many of those books have things like incest, mass killings, genocide even. All these things are in the bible yet it has never been banned. Is it because its considered a religious text? Not trying to start a flame war but I'm curious as to why this book has never been on a banned list.

Banned by whom? The only bans I've seen in the last fifty years are imposed by the local bookstores themselves. There are many local yokels who won't carry gun books or books on explosives, particularly on making expedient explosive devices. There are stores all over that won't carry right wing books of any sort. There are few stores that will carry books that deal favorably with Adolf Hitler or the Third Reich. I must mention that that most publishers are now inserting condemnatory passages in books on weapons and even the philately of the Third Reich. Now try to find an honest translation of Mein Kampf. Try to find Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Try to find anything that's racialist in nature. The only booksellers who defy these rigid rules of what's allowable are Amazon and a few other large booksellers and specialists. Featuring books that were once banned for obscenity is nothing but a mask to cover up the rigid rules of what's allowed today. A widely promulgated condemnation of a work has become the most successful sort of ban. We live in the days of iron-clad censorship conceived by academics and the entertainment media. It's far more effective than any government ban ever was.

A Wrinkle In Time was banned by a couple of schools.
Harry Potter was banned by a city in South Carolina.
One Who Flew Over The Cuckoos next was removed by a public school on N.Y

Not all books are banned by the government.

A school in Idaho removed the book "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian,"by Sherman Alexie

Idaho school system removes book from curriculum after parental outrage

after parents complained about much of the content not being appropriate for children.

Actually considering all the horrendous things in the bible it is a wonder that it hasn't been banned many times. I suppose the churches have too much money to allow that to happen, though.
