Wow.....................................yourself. I never heard of Janes, or Jane's, before this thread.
Wow...
Jane's Fighting Ships has been the bible for categorizing the world's naval forces since 1898 and I would have expected that anyone with the slightest interest in naval warfare would be intimately aware of its existence and utility. Now published by Jane's Information Group when reading it one has to wonder if it isn't a branch of British military intelligence.

I think that I've been glancing through Jane's from time to time since the late 60's.

Man, upon rereading my post it just seems awful harsh for me to have made such a statement and I apologize for it. I'm just old and just make too many assumptions of what people should know, it was arrogant and uncalled for.
I'm not surprised that you received a hostile reception. The book forum on c-d is mostly limited to current popular fiction. I subscribe to this subforum, but I rarely find a topic of interest. I love to read and have a large library. I don't find many bibliophiles on c-d. I've found that it's best to post information on nonfiction or actual literature on other fora that deal with specific topics, e.g., history.
I didn't receive a much better response when I tried to discuss the OED II.. I learned that they don't like dictionaries either.
You deserve a rep for your effort, but I cannot yet give you one.
I'm sorry. We're supposed to know about some small little publishing company that's made a few books? I too had no idea what you were talking about. Cool the attitude a bit.
Right on.
Hey, if it makes you feel any better - I love history, I love British maritime history in particular, and I had never heard of any of this.
