I could not live without books. Books are almost the very air I breathe and life without them would be just lacking. Books are the best escapism there is and the wonderful thing about them is the very personal relationship with them.
We will read books in our very own way and take out of it what we will. Our understanding, and perceptions will all be different. Not 2 readers are alike in many ways.
I find it immensely freeing .
I turned 40 last year but have not been without a book since I picked up my first waterproof book as a baby in the bath ! If books didn't exist I would have to write some to keep myself happy !
I am always very suspicious of people who don't read and have no books. This to me is far more odd and freaky than just about anything. It's just not right.
Nearly 26 and always a book with me!
Never could live without books although my reading time is limited b/c of DS at the moment. But it's no excuse, I squeeze in a couple pages at least once a day.
I don't read books b/c I have to but only the ones I like and chose.

Ahhhh, what would I do w/out books? Cannot even begin to imagine such a drastic situation. That is why Karla with a K's '? o' the Day' a few days ago, regarding a special room, I said I wanted a huge library. Years before I was a librarian I have had books around me. Have them given to me and buy them myself. A world w/out books is vacant, empty, meaningless to me. Most of the time I have 2 -3 books going at the same time. Pleasure, history, science, you name it.
Have this great one now about mapping of the world. Fascinating reading. Also a Dean Koontz and a book by Sean Hannity. Books? Love them. Had my first library card at 4 yrs. of age. My mother took me to the local library and helped me make a selection. We moved from St. Louis to Chicago, where my younger sister was born. Came back to St. Louis with the book and took it to the local library. Now at this time you had to sign a card when you took a book out. They managed to find my card and even after over two years, only charged me 50 cents. Book even had some of my siblings art work on a few pages. Yes, books. The written word is essential to humans, Like the air we breathe. . Sorry, didn't mean to get carried away here. But, what the heck, y'all asked.
Over 40 and, unfortunately, since owning the computer don't read as much as I would otherwise; however, I read one main book but also have others I have started waiting to be finished.
