Criminal profiling or anything related to the subject such as 'crime investigation' , psychology of criminals or anything like that that gets into the workings of the minds of criminals or mentally deranged.
I thought Mind Hunter by John Douglas was good.. I think Douglas was a retired FBI agent when he authored this book, reviewing serial killer cases. I read it around the time it was released (mid 9os), and it seemed like a unique behind the scenes glimpse at criminal profiling. Since the time of Mind Hunter's initial release, the subject of criminal profiling has become a ubiquitous part of American entertainment.. the book may seem mundane now (?) Still a good, inexpensive book for a collector, or student of profiling..
Any of the books John Douglas co-wrote with Mark Olshaker are worth reading. When Douglas chose a new co-author, the quality went down.
