I've read about half of the choices, and picked my favorites of the bunch, which include Five Quarters, Cider House Rules, and Suite Francaise.
I enjoyed Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell, but that could take awhile to finish.

I am rather keen on reading The Wall ~ Marlen Haushofer but the library is uncertain they can get it even outside our region, and it is selling for more than $20.00 on the biggies. I am not prepared at this time to buy another second hand book right now for that price.

Perhaps I'll find it during my travels to our local booksellers.

not trying to be pushy about this book, but Amazon does offer it for under $6, at first I could only find it for over $20, but if you click on the title, not where it says used and new (under the title) you will see the other editions. I am assuming they are smaller paperbacks. Just in case you want to get one, even if we don't read it for the bookclub

Thanks, katzenfreund, I hadn't noticed the paperback versions. Dystopian literature appeals to me and this book appears to fall into that category. In fact, I completed about 3/4 of my own version of dystopia and the description of this novel appears to have a similar ring to it--compelling me to read this one.

Before I consider buying it on line, I will probably ring up some of the local shops.

Wink Thanks, ontheroad. These are all great titles for discussion.

Thanks for getting the list up so quickly for us, ontheroad.

I am busy now checking the reviews of books I haven't read and availibility of all of the titles.

Bluewillowplate, I am impressed that you were able to choose so early in the poll. I am really vacillating. Any tips? A coin toss, perhaps?

Apparently, my poll went haywire and we don't have a public poll. Hence, I won't be able to determine when the 14 signed on members vote, or if other non-voting CD members add their voice.

May I therefore ask that you post in this thread--even if it is a wee, yes or no, so we can determine when and if all the voting members signed in.

Many thanks.
