She's had a great career, the anthology she edited giving help to wanna-be writers like me has helped me greatly, she's told Hollywood to shove it and proved she didn't need them.

I don't see anything here I'd call done, except I'd call it "well done" Sue, you done well!

There will be a new crop of writers and perhaps I may become one of them.

I celebrate her career! I hope she enjoys a long life in retirement, free from the deadline, free from money worries, and I hope she gets plenty of time to enjoy family and friends!

And maybe a few more opportunities to tell Hollywood where to get off!

very sad to hear but also heard that she had been battling cancer for two years . I know my dad went quick when he found out it was exactly 6 months from the day of diagnosis and to hear she battled for two years my god how awful ,,,I wish for her a restful peace and pain free . God bless her family as well .

I was so shocked to see this earlier today. I looked forward to her books coming out. But, mostly, I almost felt as if she was a friend. I am really saddened by this news.

Oh, this makes me so sad! Did she finish Z before she passed, or is Y her last book?

I'll never forget the time when I was working in as a public librarian in The Town That Shall Not Be Named, a creepy "religious" lady filed a complaint with the Library Board, wanting to censor all kinds of books so that her kids couldn't have access to them. The example she used as a sinful author? Sue Grafton! I just gaped at her with my mouth open when she said that, and replied, "Sue Grafton? But she's so tame!" Then she went on a tirade about how I was disrespectful and elitist. I still don't know how in the world Sue Grafton's name entered her consciousness - you know someone like that never read a single one of Grafton's books.

Y was her last book.

At her request, no ghost writers so the series ends with Y.

I enjoyed her books. They were light fluff, but enjoyable. I'm sorry to hear of her death.

Wow... I remember reading her series when I was a child.

Kinsey kicked tail and took names. I can assume that Sue did the same.
RIP.
