Default Outdoor/adventure books?

Hey, I'm going to be doing a LARGE stint of travel soon and need some book recommendations. I'm looking mostly for nonfiction outdoor/adventure books. I just read "Into the Wild" and " A Walk in the Woods", and enjoyed both....looking for something in the similar genre. Thanks.....

I read "The Golden Spruce" recently-very good read. Your screen name might imply that you'd also enjoy "Fifty Places to Fly Fish Before You Die",
which is a great reference book, and entertaining.

"Ray Mears go walkabout" by Ray Mears, "The real heroes of Telemark" by Ray Mears, "Bushcraft" by Ray Mears, "First contact" by Mark Anstice, " "Tribe, adventures in a changing world" by Bruce Parry, "Serious survival, how to poo in the arctic" by Bruce Parry, "blizzard, race to the pole" by Bruce Parry, "into the Abyss" by Benedict Allen, "mad white Giant" by Benedict Allen, "Edge of blue Heaven, journey through Mongolia" by Benedict Allen, "hunting the Guru" by Benedict Allen, " The Skeleton coast, through the namib desert" by Benedict Allen, "Into the Crocodile nest, a journey through New Guinea" by Benedict Allen, "Last of the medicine men" by Benedict Allen, " Facing the Frozen Ocean: One Man's Dream to Lead a Team Across the Treacherous North Atlantic" by Bear Grylls,
and my favourite of all and mother of all adventure books :

"South" by Ernest Shackelton , the explorer who managed to bring back alive every one of his men after being stranded in South Georgia for 22 months in the worst imaginable circumstances. True Heroism and a brilliant read.

I also recommend the Frank Hurley photographs book of the expedition to go with it, truly spectacular even 90 years on.

I loved The Last Season by Eric Blehm.

It's about the life of Randy Morgenson, who was a National Park Ranger in the Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park for 28 years. Randy was a lover of primitive wilderness who was raised on the floor of Yosemite Valley where he found friendship with the likes of Ansel Adams and Wallace Stegner. In his 28th year of working the backcountry he suddenly disappeared while he was out on patrol. The book details his life and the search for him when he disappeared, but it also deals a lot with the life and culture of wilderness rangers and Randy's passion about nature, wilderness, and the need to protect it and enjoy it.

If you enjoy hiking, mountains, outdoors or mystery, you'll love this book!

If you enjoy outdoor adventure with a bit of humor thrown in you'll probably like Dances with Marmots by George Speering. About a hike from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Crest trail.

Who Goes Out in the Midday Sun? A book about a man and his dog that go into the amazon.

Or anything by Paul Theroux.

Does anyone know where you can find a list of adventure books? They are my favorite reads, but so hard to find.

The very pinnacle of adventure books?

Endurance.

It was written in the 50s about Scott's expedition to Antarctica. It was recently made into an HBO movie, and is easily one of the most riveting books ever written.

Also, anything by Tim Cahill is bound to be funny and thought provoking.
