Very surprising, quite a talent.
His autobiographical Travels is very good reading.

Nnnnnooooooooooooo
Weird timing I've been checking his books out of the library over the last few weeks to reread them. I've got a beat to hell hardback of Jurassic Park at the house waiting to go back right now.

He died at such an early age. We are lucky to have had his talents available to us over the years.
RIP

Noooooooooooo....... say it ain't so. He is one of my favoritest (for emphasis) writers!
My oldest son struggled with reading, even into middle school. From about the fourth grade on, I would let him pick a mystery or adventure story. He would read it during silent reading at school and I would read it at night. The object of the game was to be the first one to figure out the ending of the story- no fair peeking at the back of the book. Along the way we would talk about foreshadowing, flashbacks, red herrings, all those tricks writer's use. It didn't take my son long to discover Micheal Crichton. Along with his legacy of books, he taught my son to love reading, and for that I will be forever grateful.

I was pretty shocked to hear it too, since I didn't know he had cancer... RIP. Btw, did you realize he was 6'9"? I read that in an online obit, and was surprised he was so tall! Anyway, it is a sad loss for the literary & movie world.

He could take something that seems absolutely absurd (e.g. a theme park with dinosaurs) and make it believable. Not many can do that. He'll be missed.

I am very saddened by this news also. I'm not much of a fiction reader but he was one of my favorites. You will be greatly missed Michael. Thank you for all your wonderful writings.
