Thanks - that is a great idea! The website recommends them also, but said to try for AT&T GLOBAL cards as they are the most widely accepted. A very kind (and thorough!!) poster on another thread put up a full page of links with orgs and what they provide.

There are many that will sell you the calling cards at a discount but allow the full-price minutes.... Certainly worth it if one is sending a lot of calling cards.

you can go here AAFES and purchase a gift card to send to troops. If you don't know anyone downrange, AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Service) has links to help you out. You can send them to troops downrange or injured troops, or even to the USO.

when i was stationed at ramstein, you'd see them everyday. lots of times they didn't know many people except other injured troops. anything to perk up their day will definitely be appreciated.

Our local Veteran's Day Parade featured a few patients in wheelchairs from the local VA Hospital. (At least I think that's where they were from?) Drives the point home, that's for sure.

Nope - I never served. As I get older, I really wish I had though. My father was a vet (tail end of WWII & all of Korea). I think these past few years of what we as a country have gone through; whether we agree or not with our leaders, shouldn't affect our support of the troops.

In the past year I kept hearing so many negatives that I just wanted to be part of something positive. It's kind of selfish in a way - I'm just trying to build up the "karmic bank account"..... I keep reminding myself that protesters are allowed their free speech here because our troops work hard to make sure we all have access to that right. IMO -

Tucker Max - I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell
Maddox - The Alphabet of Manliness

Both are very funny and geared toward males (although every girl that's ever been over has picked it up and started laughing)
