The STAND movie-miniseries was not good, try to put it from your mind before you read the book. Even if you know the end, the ride is worth it

I really liked DREAMCATCHER, and the movie for that one was not too bad.

Maybe it's me that's changed. I remember reading "The Stand" and not being able to put it down, reading into the wee hours, racing home from work to get back into the story.

Grabbed "Under the Dome" as soon as it came into the library, read two chapters, took it back to the library.

Have to second Ketabcha that if you find you like Stephen King you must read "The Stand".
I read this years ago in college and stayed up nights because I couldn't put it down.
Also still have my old copy of Bachman (sk in disguise) "Thinner", much smaller story but very good.
Haven't read his latest but have the kindle edition and plan on starting this shortly.

THE STAND is coming out in graphic novel (comic book) form, looking forward to checking it out. Most of THE DARK TOWER has been done in graphic novel too, very beautiful art.

I've now officially been coerced into buying a Richard Bachman (Stephen King pseudonym) collection from eBay and will be picking up a few other SK novels later on as well.

Anybody else have a chance to read UTD yet?

I just finished it up last night. I thought it would take two months, but I got through it in just over two weeks. I loved it! It was very intense and the characters were well described. I would love to see it as a movie.

I should have my copy in tomorrow's mail and should have it read by the week-end. Been waiting for it since my brother let me know he bought it for me before Christmas! When I've been waiting that long for a book, I simply don't put it down until it's read! (He thought he'd have a chance to personally deliver it, but finally came to the conclusion his company isn't going to send him in this direction any time soon, so he dropped it in the mail on Monday.)

I want to but at the moment the book is just too big to fit into schedule. I have a ton of other books queued ahead of it.

Great book! If you compare The Shining say to Under the Dome, you get a different type of horror story I guess. I flew through UTD, although I felt the ending was a bit of a let down. I don't want to say what the ending is for those of you that are reading it, but for it to build momentum to that finish was a disappointment.

I absolutely agree about the ending. Have to say it was a real eye-roller .....

I enjoyed "Under The Dome" more than almost any of King's books. I started it on a Monday morning and was up until the wee hours finishing it. It's a good thing I am retired so I didn't miss work.
