I enjoyed this one about Katherine Hepburn. It was an unflinching yet warm look at the actress, and offered insight into her character as well as the golden days of Hollywood.
I read this bio of Jim Morrison years ago (there are other Morrison bios out there, this one was the first). Written by an admitted fan, it is a look at a charismatic rock hero with real talent, but less than admirable personal life.
Definitely, Kate Remembered. Willow sums it up well.
While not exactly a biography, I also enjoyed Tom Brokaw's two works, including The Greatest Generation (my father's and grandfathers' time period, and WWII), and then BOOM! which helped fill-in-the-gaps in my memory of the 1960s and 70s, and on into the influences into the 1980s. It was great -- like having Brokaw as an older brother who makes sense out of things from the time period that I either never really understood, or was too young to understand at the time.
BOOM! led to some very interesting discussions around my house. My husband is 7 years older than what I am, and when I was still riding bicycles with ropes tied to the handlebars (pretending the bike was a horse), he was on the Admiral's Staff aboard the Kennedy, so I get a whole different perspective of the period. By the time I met him, in college -- he, just back from his tour of duty -- and fell in love with the big hazel eyes, broad shoulders and shoulder-length hair he was sporting -- I had become ensconced in the women's rights movement, and the plight of Blacks in the US, along with most other hot topics of the period, including sex and birth control, anti-war protests, etc.
I enjoyed reading A Star Is Found: Our Adventures Casting Some of Hollywood's Biggest Movies by Janet Hirshenson & Jane Jenkins. I haven't seen a lot of the movies mentioned in the book, but it was still fun to read how the movies were cast!
Tedd Bruschi's book was real good. Also i read I hope they serve Beer in Hell, also great and they are making it into a movie or show or something I hear.

That's more of a memoir that is full of short stories. It has already been made into a movie and already been in theaters. The DVD will be out January 29th.
Thank you,people!
There are a few interesting titles that I will look into.
