Yes. Lisbeth Salander was such an interesting character.
Agreed! I loved the first two books- I just pre-ordered the third book from Amazon. It's coming out in May. I was tempted to order it from Amazon UK and pay through the nose for shipping, but I decided that half the fun will be the anticipation of waiting for that book! I read the first two very quickly-started Dragon Tattoo on Christmas Eve and finished the second one about a week ago.
#3 is a bit "slower" than the first two. . . lots of "legal stuff", and a a courtroom drama. Neither as action packed nor as "can't put it down" engossing as the first two, but nice finish to most of the already developed story line. One can not help but wish for #'s 4, 5, etc., unfortunatly, not likely. .. with luck there may be a # 4 (I have heard that a finished or nearly finished version is on his computer, ) but the legal battle over ownership rights will likely tie that up for quite a while.
I have read all the books, and I think it's because I fell in love with Salander. Lizbeth is one of the best characters I have never read, seen, felt.... Strong woman, life is better with Lizbeth Salander.

Yeah, falling in love with her seems to be a common reaction to reading those books. . . the most unique character I've ever encountered, fictional or otherwise.
LOL--All you guys must be smarter than me--or at least have longer attention spans. I tried to read "The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo" because of all the great reviews, but I had to chuck it after about 100 pages. Geez! All those names and characters and subplots! I needed a scorecard to keep up.

I do know what you mean. . . the difficulty, I think, is with the Swedish names; if you are unfamiliar with them it is much more difficult to "get" who is who than with typical English names. Nevertheless, these books are worth it. I got a bit confused, at first, too, but am very glad that I pushed on and read them, they are worth it!
We went to the movies and, by chance, saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. DH couldn't believe I made him watch a Swedish crime movie but it was a good movie so I bought the book for my mom for Christmas and she read it within 3 days. I guess I need to get the other 2 volumes also and will squeeze them onto my to-read-list.
And falling in love with her is kinda difficult for a good boy like me, because her look, habits and bad manners .
Hmmm, I felt the same way, at first, but as her character is revealed, basing opinion on the way she dresses and adorns herself seems unreasonably shallow. . . she is, after all, one of the most "moral" characters one is likely to encounter in a book
Both moral and incredibly honest, with herself, and with others when she chooses to communicate. If one takes into account her background, one cannot help but be impressed, most people, in that situation, would not adhere to the strict ethical guidlines that she does.
Just curious as to whether that horrible man (Salander's legal guardian at one point) in the first book reappears in the second or third.
