Default Vacaction Area In Boston? Please make suggestions.

Hi Folks,

I'm planning to take a vacation to your lovely city of Boston in mind July b/c all my friends tell me how wonderful it is... I have never been there... I am from NY (Brooklyn). Being from NY, I am told Boston is similar to manhattan but without the "hustle bustle" and stereotypical manhattan attitude of the folks AND its clean!

Can some of you please steer me in the right direction as to what do and where to stay. I need somewhere to destress (look out at water, trees, etcc).. Maybe a nice place to hang out with friends (im turning 30). Thanks

You will want to look at communities in the Cape Cod area. (Which is very, very, very expensive for water views. But you can purchase a small cottage in a water front town for under $200k if you shop around long enough. Just familiarize yourself with the geographic make-up of Cape Cod and go from there.

Welcome. To get the best feel for Boston, you should just walk around the neighborhoods: Beacon Hill, Northend, Southend, Back Bay, etc. If you are into history, you should also do the Freedom Trail (essentially a line that you follow so that you can't get lost). It will take you to various historical parts of the city like the Old North Church and Paul Revere's House and the USS Constitution. As for museums, you should visit the Gardner and MFA if you get the chance. If you get tired of the city, you can island hop through the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. Just take a ferry near the aquarium to whatever island you would like to explore. Some are sandy, some are rocky and one has an old fort. Good luck and have fun.
