If you earn anything close to minimum wage, it's very difficult to live in a so-called "superstar city" like Boston, New York or San Francisco. I'm afraid you will "just get by" at best.

I don't mean to be harsh, but Boston is dominated by the high-tech, finance, insurance, medical and education industries. Living "like anyone else" in Boston is a difficult standard because there are so many educated and affluent people. You might get by with a studio or a roommate, but if you want to "start a family one day," it's going to be even tougher.

As other have suggested, Pittsburgh is a good alternative. Philadelphia and Chicago are others. I lived in Minneapolis for five years without a car. The city isn't as transit-friendly as Boston, but it's getting better, and I know that there is a large and supportive community of people with visual disabilities. I imagine Portland would be similar.

You're still very young. Perhaps you might consider using your disability money to finance an education? If you had more earning potential, your lifestyle options would increase dramatically. Also, many college towns/campuses are designed to be walkable and you wouldn't need a car.

Best of luck.

what are some suggestions of diffrent trades or vocations that would be usefull in Boston Besides those in the medical, law and high tech feilds? Something That I could go to school for but also not take 10-12 years to complete my education in. I dont want to be rich, just live comfortably w/o struggling. Also, I am certified in Heating and cooling wich I would think would provide alot of opportunity in Boston. Second, I would think in a city like Boston, there would be alot of programs or organizations deticated topeople with disabilities that I could take advantage of.

You might want to do a little more research on the cost of living in the city of Boston and its surrounding cities. Making "minimum wage" like you said just ain't gonna cut it. Even with your benefits. There's no sense in moving somewhere if you plan on "just getting by", especially in this city.
