Hey, as a student, how good will I make it on a $14 a day grocery budget in Boston?

What does Samuel Adams Beer cost in the supermarket?

What does a pack of bacon cost in the supermarket?

Ty

$14 for one person? I think you'll do ok if you plan to cook a lot/in bulk or eat cheaper packaged foods to supplement healthier items. For breakfast, invest in oatmeal. It's cheap and healthy, and will last you forever.

Try to throw in fresh fruits and veggies when you can. Just look for sales. Also, hit up the farmers markets.

Thats over 100.00 per week. More then enough for 1 person but avoid name brands (unless on sale) cause you're paying for the name.

steel- you are a little off on the math That is 98/wk

It is going to be tight, especially if buying bacon (expensive here, at least compared to what I was paying back in Ohio) and then adding beer on top of it too- how much do you drink in a week?

It is doable, you just have to plan your meals wisely- buy and cook things you can eat as leftovers the next day will help.

Try ramen noodles, pb&j sandwiches, grilled cheese isn't bad either (use cheese sparingly), yogurt (all store brands), pasta.
PS S.Adams beer is approx. $9 / 6 pk (not in Boston or MA but prob. priced similarly).

Stop n Shop is outrageously priced. There are cheaper grocery stores, I'm just not sure how close they are to you. I'd shop at a Super-Walmart, Market Basket, Aldi, etc...

I'd lower your beer-snobbery and drink something cheaper if you like to drink. Sam is not overly pricey, but you can buy a lot more Bud than Sam aggregately given your budget. (Thank the Lord I'm not a student anymore...)

Buy store brands, and keep it simple. I know several people up here that eat a lot of Fluffernutter (gag) sandwiches, and that can't be overly expensive.

Avoid eating out, avoid fast food... you'll do fine.
