I'm relocating to Boston and will work at Hanscom AFB - I'm looking to relocate in Leominster since the homes seem more affordable there and look pretty nice - does anyone know how the traffic is driving to the base - I anticipate some but don't want to get stuck for too long - also how is the area of Leominster? Thanks. Laura

I went to high school in Fitchburg, right next door. Leominster has okay schools and nice housing prices, but few jobs. Most people commute to Worcester or Boston. It aslo has a nice commuter rail station.

Most of your commute will be via Route 2. Most of that stretch of Route 2 is not that fast as it winds through farmland, woods and towns. If you have to contend with rush hour traffic that would add to your commute, depending on how tolerant it is for a long commute, you might consider to move a little closer in. Good luck.

The traffic isn't awful, but you will be on Rt. 2 and the further your on it the more traffic you'll pick up. During rush hour it will probably take you 45 minutes to an hour.

The city of Leominster is fairly nice. There are a couple less desired areas, but most of the city is fairly nice and has good access to many areas. You can be in Worcester in 20-25 minutes or Nashua, NH in 45 minutes. Boston really only takes 45 min - 1 hr when it isn't rush hour. There is plenty of shopping, chain restaurants, and some local mostly italian ones.
