Boston hosted the very first NBA All Star game in 1951 and again in 1952, 1957 and 1964.

There seems to be a trend of all-star games being held in southern cities. Only New York, DC, Philly, Minneapolis, and Cleveland have been in the north and hosted one since 1990. The last northern one was in 2002.

That is an interesting question. Although I think the NBA is boring and the all star game a complete waste so I'd rather not see it here.

I think I've seen something in the newspapers in the past couple of years about the Celtics hierarcy pushing to host the event (a whole weekend of festivities, actually).

Wasn't the then-FleetCenter supposed to bring more options to Boston in terms of big concerts which had supposedly bypassed Boston, as well as big college basketball tourneys in March? Esp. hosting the All-Star weekend?

Seems the trend is for non-NBA cities (Vegas) as well as the dome in New Orleans (or was it the NO Hornets arena next door) that recently hosted? Is Dallas and its new Palace in Dallas where the Cowboys play hosting soon? Actually, wasn't it there just this past February? Can't recall. Seems Atlanta and/or Indianapolis may have hosted in their domes/ NFL stadiums recently?

So unless Boston had a dome....

[quote=bostonguy1960;16755565]I think I've seen something in the newspapers in the past couple of years about the Celtics hierarcy pushing to host the event (a whole weekend of festivities, actually). .......... I did read something about The Celtics want The All star game here . Its a shame a Top NBA Championship team has to beg for a All star game .

Wasn't the then-FleetCenter supposed to bring more options to Boston in terms of big concerts which had supposedly bypassed Boston, as well as big college basketball tourneys in March? Esp. hosting the All-Star weekend? ................. Yes The TD Garden has host some march madness games and alot more concerts ( I used to had to go to Worcester or Providence to see a concert when the old Boston Garden was still here .

No Dome.

Rajon Rondo will lead the celtics into the playoffs and cruise through the east. Orlando is the only true threat now so, great chance they are back in the finals.
