There are plenty of IT jobs in Boston (IE EMC) you just have to do those jobs in India.

He's saying all of the Boston IT jobs have been "outsourced".

ahh ok.. Well the advantage with being a DBA is that most of the data centers for the companies are still here in US. they cannot be oursourced ( at least it will be ages before other countries ramp up their infrastructure). And they simply cannot have an offshore DBA logging into servers here.

The IT job market in Boston is decent, depending on the skills-sets you have. Boston's IT market isn't as solid many of the other IT hot beds.

I hear there are many insurance/financial companies in boston? My wife is a CPA and I am IT (SQL Server DBA). How are the chances of both of us finding jobs? I have never been to that part of the country. The northern most point was richmond . I am still researching between RTP (North Carolina) and Boston. Weather is not much of a problem. If the job market is good I think we can survive the weather just like the rest of the folks living there. I think having a job is important for anything we (want to) do.
