My husband and I currently live in a Chicago suburb and may be relocating to the Brigdewater, MA area. We have never lived on the East coast. We are interested in a nice area that is within a short commute of Bridgewater. We do not want to live right in Boston. We are looking for a nice suburb.

We can spend $400-$500K on a house. We like more modern homes and don't need a ton of land. A remote home out in a farm-like area wouldn't be for us.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Considering the price and the area you want you can take your pick. Could you be a bit more specific in terms of amenities/needs? The major thing to keep in mind in the area is that there is BSU which significantly impacts the area. In addition there often is traffic around rt 18 with the Westgate mall nearby. Rt 58 is ok if you need to go further south to the wareham area.
there's a website of forsalebyowner.com that you can search individual towns for.
