Advertisements

Okay, maybe someone can help me out! I am in the Advertising department for a small software firm. I am not advertising my software, but rather for a client (a restaurant chain that has a fruit and a bug in the name .. cannot say due to clause agreement ) Anyways, one of my target locations is Boston.

Now, I have been to Boston, and being from the South I have to say that it's definitely the least friendliest place I have ever been. That's neither here nor there.

I have created so many different ads to present to the cities people and no one is biting anything. So, I ask you - is there something that you, as a Bostonian, are more attracted to when looking at an ad? Do you even look at all? Please - let me know!

If you're looking for more foot traffic to Orange Wasps, they need more locations around boston...

I think they're pretty much in Cleveland Circle, Dorch and Malden... then a bit outside the city...

When I was living in brookline, it was a decent place to go when we were in the mood for chain bar and grill food that was walkable...

I'm thinking the best way to get more people into a chain they know of... is coupons. Throw some into whatever they hand out to BC and BU students (for the one in Cleveland Circle)... Maybe get on a few deal sites like groupon... Because outside of things like that... the biggest reason why people dont go would be location, atleast in the boston area.

Maybe Applebees could make their food less disgusting for starters?

Insulting people doesn't tend to get the most positive responses. If it's neither here nor there, I'm not understanding why you had to say anything about it in the first place.

As far as Applebee's, I didn't know they needed advertising. I'd be unlikely to go to a chain restaurant in Boston personally because I can do that in the suburbs if I want to.

Well I am also from the south and am currently relocating to Boston because of simpletons like you. I don't believe Boston needs an Applebees. Very sad if that is your client, I would not advertise that. Good Luck and please stay in the south, it needs you.

When you find that cold and frigid doesn't just apply to the weather there - please, don't come back here.

This makes sense. Thanks for the insight. What about the suburbs? Like I mentioned I don't work for the restaurant - so, what about going to a chain restaurant in the suburbs?

Well in the suburbs you don't have as many options and you might be accustomed to going to somewhere with more general tastes that is also more affordable. Plus you can use billboards on the highways as far as advertising goes.

As a people, in MA, we just arent friendly enough to enjoy establishments like Applebees. We'd rather go to the 99, and talk about how much we dislike everyone...

Sorry, its a losing battle
