Default boston is awesome

I've lived here all of my life, it is a beautiful city, the guy that said that it is "wicked dirty" is dead wrong. While it is true that the state is expensive, depending on your status it shouldn't be too bad. Its a great place to live, and as long as you keep your kids (if you ever have any) in good schools(some public ones are good, but very few, and most private are good) you should love life here.

who ever said that we get 65 degrees must be living in florida or in their bed as we don't get temps like that , it's freezing here, colder than usual and more snow than usual
I would go to chicago if I had your choice as Boston is nice but it's not a view on Chicago

65 degrees in January sounds more like a global warming scare mongering tactic

It got to 70 degrees on Jan. 6 last year. I remember it well, but I agree that is just a fluke, once in a decade.

It really depends what you like in a city. Boston is relatively quiet when compared to NYC or Chicago. It's night life is relatively tame. Some consider it boring as it is a big tourist city and most of it is gentrified. Even the bad neighborhoods are getting gentrified.

However, it is still a great city for culture and access to nature. Some claim it is not diverse. However, I think Boston is extremely diverse. The difference is that most associate diverse with having a large black population. Boston's population diversity is more ethnic. It's black population is relatively small when compared to other cities. There seem to be more Europeans and South Americans here.

There are those that claim Boston is elitist, as per capita income here is among the highest in the nation. However, I think that elitism exists everywhere you go in the U.S. I feel that it is inherent in the culture that people associated with people in the same economic stratus.

Don't take the board's opinion. You should definitely visit and get the feel for the city. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Chicago is a disgusting city. I can't believe someone would call Boston dirty and in the next breath praise Chicago! Different strokes for different folks I guess... If Boston was Spanish speaking, I'd probably stay here forever! I guess I'll just have to seek out the Latin American version of Boston for my future.

There are some downsides- but if you visit a place like Atlanta (where I grew up), even the downsides seem positive! Boston public schools are some of the best inner city schools in the country outside of NYC, the people are great, the sports teams are better, and there is never any lack of things to do.

i'm from the south shore (30 mins south of beantown). i've lived in newport, RI, Rockland, MA and Boston. I've lived in boston for 6 months in the fenway area and despise it. It's very cliquey. It's dirty. There seems to be a lot of drama and the people are not in the least bit friendly. I always thought I'd love living so close to everything, but I am looking for an out. It was much better visiting Boston. I don't like living here. Too much traffic, the MBTA sucks, and everyone knows everyone and their business. If you are looknig for a big city, try Chicago. That's where I'm thinking of going!

Go Chicago all the way. Chicago blows Boston away in every regard. People are much nicer there.

I've lived in many different places, and Boston is one I would move back to in a heartbeat. Just going out on the town is a history lesson.

It is cold, people can be rude, and traffic is bad, but I still loved it.

They do say wicked too!
