I'm looking to rent an apartment or house somewhere in boston or close to it where I can take the train or somethig. I plan on getting a place with room mates to save some money and only want to pay 450 at most. I've found a few places in my price range but I don't know anything about the area they are in.

Don't think anything inside Boston would fit, except for maybe parts of Hyde Park which overall has taken a turn for the worse. I would look in Quincy, Braintree, Medford. Maybe also Malden and Revere but be more careful with those 2, they can be spotty.

You can't even find a studio for that price in Boston. You'd be lucky to rent a roomins a house in Dorchester or South Boston for than price.

What about lowell, east cambridge, haverhill, newton, taunton, lawrence, somerville? I found rooms in all of those ranging from 380 to 475 also a few in quincy, braintree and malden like you suggestd.

Lowell, Haverhill, Taunton and Lawrence are all probably too far, and likely to be at least partially non-white. East Cambridge and Somerville vary but will not likely be all white. It depends on how much diversity you'd be willing to tolerate. Newton is predominately white but anything in that price range there would cause concern to me, you could get lucky however.

The OP had a legitimate question and deserves an honest answer. By meaning a "white neighborhood" I'm sure/and hope he didn't mean 100% Anglo-Saxon off of the Mayflower, etc. Most people prefer to at least live amongst those who share similar traits/language and cultural values. This his nothing to do with tolerance as I'm sure is where you are trying to go with this. I for one don't mind diversity but would not want to be the only white in the neighborhood. It's a matter of comfort and being able to blend in reasonably. Sorry but the last 2 posts come across as typical PC nonsense.
