This picture could be of a typical Boston day in August, 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity, and that guy walking his dog is dripping with sweat and his shirt is sticking to him.

The weather here goes from dreary muggy drizzly dark days to swealtering sunny days full of humidity.

In fact, that was the weather just last week!
Well, today it's supposed to be 90 here in southeastern IN, and the humidity is pretty nasty right now. We've had horrible humidity, we've had heat so bad we didn't even bother going outside until it got dark. This entire month has been mostly rain and thunderstorms. Whatever. At least you have places to go like museums and other attractions to enjoy that probably have air conditioning. Here, we have to drive at least an hour to get to anything remotely interesting to do or see, and that's what I'm tired of. People have crappy weather days just about anywhere you go.

Sure, their Springs are nicer (I prefer our Falls) and longer, but Summer (May-September) is brutally hot and uncomfortable. It gets worse as you head further South.

Arizona is sunnier, but the heat of the summer (regularly 100+) is unbearable. That "dry heat" talk is more or less BS (sure it would be worse with high humidity, but 100+ is no cake walk either way). San Diego's year-round 70-75 (with a few 85+) is nice until you realize just how brown it is and there's absolutely no change.

San Francisco sounds delightful since it never gets frigid, but it rarely heats up. It's not much fun wearing a jacked by 3pm in July, August and September. It's foggy every day too. Weeks go by with nothing but a spitting mist. The Pac NW is pretty cloudy too.

Move instead of whining about it. You'll see that it nowhere is perfect.
I'll have you know I lived in central america in a poverity stricken area for 2 years, and the heat didn't bother me at all...even witht he problems of not having electricity and running water....

As far as moving is concerned, I am trying..I've been working on it for 2 years but it's hard in this economy. If I have to deal with another new england winter, I may lose my mind.

Living here, I used to say, "Well, we get blizzards and floods and occasional hurricanes, but at least we don't get tornados!" ....

Right now we've got tornados touching down in Springfield and traveling east. Great.

Let me summarize:

OP: I don't like the weather here; I want to leave.

Most of the responders: You should like the weather here. I do.

actually, the majority of the responses have been that the OP should move to a location that's more pleasing and that no location has perfect weather

Glad to see you didn't choose Brimfield or Monson. No one is immune.

The weather here is great if you're Irish, or enjoy walking around in 40 degree weather with shorts and a tee shirt.

You posted too soon ..... heh. Heh heh.

I think climate does have important beneficial effects on happiness and maybe health, especially if you have retired and want to do things outdoors.. The West Coast for about 100 miles inland is definitely a more pleasant place to live than just about anywhere else in the US. What I noticed most of all (in addition to not sweating in my shirts until they dripped) was that it was so much more comfortable to walk in the woods, around lakes, or any natural setting - vastly fewer biting insects partly due to the lower humidity and better drainage of the soil.

Here in Northern California we have snow, but it doesn't stick for more than a few days. It can get hot in the summer if you're at low elevations, but not so much higher up. It's a monsoon pattern, half the year is wet and chilly, half hot and dry.

I'd have moved back to Mass long ago if the weather weren't so much better here. Housing costs tend to be higher here, but that's more than offset by the fact that you won't need much heat (or airconditioning if you live in the right places). Humidity is just plain ideal most of the time, it doesn't get as dry as Nevada or Arizona, but never oppressively high either.
