Hi all,

I'm visiting Harvard and MIT this summer, alone. I have checked out a dozen of hotels and hostels and all of them require 18 or older to stay. Can someone point out a solution, please?

Thanks!

Gary

You could try contacting Harvard and MIT and explaining your situation to see if they have any advice, but I think you are going to be out of luck. Is there any way an adult can come with you?

Not likely...

Though, I found a nice hostel that will accept me if I bring my parents' written consent. This is the best I can do. Do you think I can stay at the end?

I would imagine that hostel will let you stay if they said all you need is a parents note. I honestly can't remember the last time a hotel even asked for my ID, assuming I've booked online and pre-paid. I'm guessing that if you don't make a big deal out of the fact you are 17, they won't say anything about it. I'd just book a room and check in with confidence.

Most hotels ask for a photo ID (and a major credit card).....

ConcretVitamin, if the hostel says they will accept you with a note, just make sure to triple confirm that (best to get it in writing) and make sure you have the name of the person who told you this. It would really suck to get here and not have a place to stay after all.
