Smile Autumn in New England

Hi there,

I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Hawaii about 4 years ago. While it is beautiful out here and the weather is to die for it does get monotonous. I find myself missing certain things about New England throughout the year. Believe it or not, I find myself missing snow in the winter, all the trees/flowers blooming in the spring(and the rain), cookouts and late sunsets in the summer(Thunder storms!!!!!) and of course the cool, crisp air and leaves changing in the Fall(not to mention: playoff baseball, football, hockey, hay rides, pumpkin picking, halloween...). I'm actually headed back to Mass in a few weeks and can't wait to go apple/fruit picking, hiking, biking, playing baseball with my bros and cousins... Just wondering if anyone else would like to chime in on their favorite Fall activities/memories around New England/Boston. Take care!

Some of my favorite things about fall:
Apple picking at Berlin Orchards, followed by hot apple cider and cider donuts
the first Pats home game
the first frost (the first morning you wakeup and the grass is white)
the smell of burning leaves
the clear, clear blue sky, the breeze in the air, and just the vivid colors of the trees in contrast with that blue sky
Halloween weekend in Salem-the crowds, the costumes, and the atmosphere
the Topsfield Fair
Doind the seasonal shuffel in the closets, and getting out the LLBean fleece for the first time
I could go on and on.....I hope you enjoy your visit!

::Sigh:: I moved from MA a year ago...boy do I miss the fall!! I'm in NC now and well our fall is just nothing compared. I miss the leaves, the smell of a crisp morning, the clean fresh air...my list could go on and on! Growing up we lived down the street from an apple orchard..I spent much of my time picking apples and well eating them too I love NC now but I wish we had some of that good ole New England feel sometimes. Nothing will ever replace it!

I miss the crisp fall weather. Especially after a month and a half of 90+ temperatures. I have been in NC 13 years and am looking to move back. In search of some familiarity and cooler temps.

The cool crisp mornings! Definitely miss those. The smell of an apple pie baking, raking mountains of leaves and pine needles(some people find this a chore but I actually looked forward to it!), the way the sun hits late in the afternoon. Those cool nights sitting around a fire listening to the Sox with some killer local brew....Ahhhhh. If anyone has a favorite farm(pick your own fruit, hayrides[haunted or not!]...) in the eastern Mass/Southern N.H./R.I. area please feel free to recommend! Looking for new places to explore when I visit in a few weeks. Thanks!
