Default I really want to live in Brookline

I want to live walking distance to Coolidge Corner so bad. I love that area and I don't like where I live now.

I just can't seem to find anything in my price range.

My maximum rent is 1,000 and that is only with heat and hot water included.

Is there any other source besides CL?

It seems even the worst studios in Brookline that are a long walk to Coolidge Corner start at 1,100

So bummed out right now

Yeah, that's a nice area -- there's a reason it's so expensive. You might have to look elsewhere on that budget.

Try Allston around Brighton Ave, Comm. Ave, and Harvard St. It's not a bad walk up Harvard St to Coolidge Corner. Of course, you'd have to deal with the "student ghetto" that is Allston (lived there almost 10 years ago. Maybe it's changed from what I remembered of it. Maybe).

Brookline is one of the most pricey and sought after suburb of a city that already has a high cost of living. It's hard enough finding a decent studio with heat included within Boston proper. Either your budget is going to have to increase by a good 20%, you're going to need to drop your requirement for heat included (which needlessly cuts down what few options you have), or you're going to have to move further away from Coolidge Corner or pick another locale altogether.

Speaking of roomates, the Pheonix, or one of the papers that merged with it had a great roomate listing

I always heard that area of Allston was rat infested I'm not sure, but it does seem dirty....maybe worth checking tho

A roommate will be best in your case, and with the amount you're willing to spend per month you'll really only need two, tops.

If I were younger, I would live in Allston, its a Kicky place. Especially along Harvard Ave and the area. To my knowledge, still a safe area.

If you need anything to fix up your new appartment, Model Hardware is a great place. You can even mention my name to the owner (his name is Bob as well) LOL.. I have done business there for a loooong span of time.

You heard correctly. Warning, gross picture: Allston residents deal with rodents, unidentified substances.

I'd stick to the Brookline side of Harvard St. There are plenty of locations within walking distance for that price with a roommate or two.
