Default Reverse Commute: Work in Malden

Does anyone do a "reverse" commute, living in Boston proper and working out in Malden (or Melrose)?
We would be more interested in living a smaller place in the city than living out in Malden, where my potential new job might be.
Has/does anyone done/do this?

It is definitely doable. Is your job easily walkable from Malden or Oak Grove station? If so, aim to live either within walking distance of the orange line or easy walking distance of a bus that frequently connects to the orange line. If you must take a bus from either of the aforementioned stations to get to your job, try to find an apartment close to the orange line itself as opposed to off a bus route. A two leg commute is manageable, but three legs can make things unpleasant in my opinion.
