Bad idea? I will be going as an undergrad and looking for either rooming with people or getting a place to myself. I get paid BAH from the VA since I was in the military for 4 years and was honorably discharged. Is $2500 a month enough? I may look into getting a job while I go to school full time too. Any suggestions for a young woman to live?

$2.5K is your monthly rent budget or monthly budget total for all living expenses?

Where will you be attending college?

If you get a financial aid package, it will often include an opportunity to work a little. I don't recommend going full time and working full time, it's a matter of priorities. Few people can do both.

I'm looking into Bunker Hill then transferring to Umass Boston eventually. I've been to Boston a handful of times and love the city. I've looked on craigslist but can't tell what ads are fake.

Since you are young, you should have plenty of years to love Boston down the road. If you're not in a position to attend a four year university right off the bat, my recommendation is to attend community college in a region where you already have some support system - friends, family, etc.

College is difficult enough without tacking on worries above and beyond. After you earn an associates degree at a place where you have the best chance to earn the highest marks possible (that's really the most important thing), you can transfer to UMass or wherever else that you see fit.
