I think you need to rethink rearranging your life for a guy who so far, hasn't promised you anything. Stay in Boston and wait and see what happens. If he is serious about you, he will visit you, date you, and when he buys you a ring or otherwise makes a serious commitment, then talk about moving. What you are doing now is foolish.

I hope that the OP had a serious conversation with her friend in North Carolina.

I do give her a lot of credit for having the fortitude to change her life for the better, and travelling across the country to do so; it's much more than most people would have done..
