Northern Europe is not too bad in terms of sunshine hours. It's about the same as East Asia (east China, Korea, Japan).

Cities like Chongqing and Chengdu in China get 1000 hours or less. (And people there ARE the shortest even in China.)

Maybe a little shorter. It's the gaelic and southern Italian genes.

Pretty broad post. As far as my experience, I've seen all sorts of sizes and heights in Boston. I'm about 179cm (between 5'10" and 5'11") and granted yes I'm taller than probably 65-70% of men I see around on the T and walking the streets, but there are some taller dudes who also make me feel small. I'd say Boston is no shorter or taller than any other city I've seen. There's short, average and tall people everywhere. With the average male height in US being about 5'8.5" I'd say that Boston falls about average.

I am talking about white men only.

Is it just a misconception? Anyone else noticed that too?
If males stop growing between ages 18 and 25, then the college student population could be a factor - unless you're talking about middle-aged men...

I felt a little less tall (6'3") during a stint in Texas, but nearly every guy I encountered was wearing 2"+ heels. Most of 'men' seen in Boston are merely boys wearing Converse with 3/8" soles.

If you think Boston is short, go to Paris ... I felt like a monster at 6'3".

Go over the border to New Hampshire. People are noticeably taller and stronger there.

I've never seen a Boston man over 5 feet tall. It's uncanny. Like living in the Emerald City.

Couple inches I'd say? Most guys fell between 5'7"-5'9". Of course there's tall people too but a majority were around that average height.
