Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some help. It's getting cold now and we're starting to see and hear mice running around at night. In the past I would lay blocks of poison around the house which worked well as I would find a couple dead mice down in my basement.

But I am looking to stop them from getting in all together. I have an old house/foundation so it's quite easy for them to get in. I'd like to have an exterminator come in and do whatever it takes to keep them out.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good/trustworthy company to use for this sort of thing?

Any feedback is appreciated...
Thanks,
Vinnie

we had a fieldstone foundation and had a problem with them. The best $150 we spent was having Best Pest from Somerville come and treat the house. The blocked the entry points and killed the mice and guaranteed their work for 6 mos which was great because we saw a mouse 5.5 mos later.

You can use steel wool to block holes in the foundation. It's likely that exterminators will use the same kind of thing as you did in the past - poison blocks. However, that may mean the critters eat the poison and die in the walls - not a nice smell. (Not to be gross, sorry!) If you have pets be sure to tell the exterminator because they may alter the type of method they use based on this.

Default Good news and bad news...

The good news on our end is we have fewer mice this year...

the bad news is I found a snake skin in the utility room.

Good luck with your extermination!
