Wink Sorry...this is the lamest question

I am taking a long weekend vacation to Boston next weekend and wanted to know what to pack. I'm from the south and girls down here dress to the nines even to attend a football game. What do most people wear out to the bars and nightclubs there? I'm sorry this question is so dumb but I just don't want to feel totally out of place.

Thanks!

Then you will look better than most of the girls up here. Most people wear jeans and a nice blouse top or something. You don't see many girls wearing dresses or anything like that.

But notice the part about a NICE top. People here, both male and female, may not "dress to the nines" to go to most clubs, but they often still dress up in a sense, even when they're dressing down. In other words, you wouldn't want to look like a total slob.

Something else to consider about clothing is to be prepared for a variety of weather. Depending on what part of the South you're from, the average weather here in Nov. might be more like your weather in Dec. (if you're from the Carolinas Piedmont region), or like your mid-winter (if you live in central AL or MS), or even chillier than your average winter weather, if you live all the way down on the Gulf coast or in FL. On the other hand, some years the weather can surprise you with brief spells of warm weather even in early Dec. In Nov. it's ordinarily chilly to moderately brisk, but it's possible for it to be anywhere from pleasantly warm to downright cold, so, aside from style, just be prepared for a variety of possible weather.

By the way, not a dumb question at all. Seems pretty smart to me to be aware that different places have slightly different social customs, and to be prepared. Enjoy your trip.
