I am moving to Boston at the end of the month from Santa Fe, NM (after a 40yr absence from MA!). Are there any recommendations for good primary care medical organizations, or how to go about locating one? Doing some initial investigation, One Medical Group appears to get some good recommendations. I will also need to find a dentist. I am retired.

Do you know where you'll be living? The health care industry in general in MA is excellent so location tends to play a large factor in many people's decision making process.

I agree with Mike as you will probably want the facility to be nearby your home. I will second that the Boston area has some of the finest medical professionals and facilities in the world. Also if you have any specific health concerns you may also want to align yourself with a Primary Care facility that refers to certain hospitals that specialize in that area.

One you may look at from now is Harvard Vanguard Associates. Home

Well, I have finally made the move and am beginning to settle in. I am living in East Cambridge near Lechmere. Are there any recommendations for good medical facilities in the area. I prefer one with many specialists under one organization, salaried doctors, good custom service. I also am looking for dental care options.

Well, not sure what insurance you have, but I have Harvard Pilgrim. There is a Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in East Cambridge, well, almost East Cambridge near Inman Sq (on Cambridge St). My primary, an Internal Med Dr is there, but they have a lab, a pharmacy, I've seen GI and dermatologists there too. They have a bunch of specialties under one roof. Not sure how it works with other insurance providers.

+1 for Harvard Vanguard in Inman Sq.

Also look into East Cambridge Health Center (East Cambridge Health Center - Doctors for all ages | Locations) and MGH Primary Care which is right across the bridge from where you live (Massachusetts General Hospital Primary Care Home)

For Dental Avalon Dental is right at Lechmere. http://www.avalondentalcambridge.com/

For primary care, I would recommend Brigham and Womens, MGH, and Fenway.

For a dentist, I would recommend Dr. Share because he is honest and does excellent work by my personal experience. Boston General Dentist |Boston Preventive Dentist |Boston Cosmetic Dentist | (617) 742-1350 He takes Delta Dental Insurance. I'm not sure about his hygienists who do cleanings, but Dr. Share himself does a great job.

I've also heard great things about Tufts Dental School. I've personally never gone there though.

I do caution you not to go to any dentist in Boston without looking up their reviews first. www.yelp.com has a lot of dentist reviews. If you pick from one of the recommendations on here and then confirm that they are a good choice by reading their reviews, you should be fine.
