I actually *have* a great allergy/immunologist but leaving a message on the nurse's line is like talking into a black hole. The only time I had a call returned was after I left a message that the insurance company wasn't going to pay for the visit because they hadn't submitted the corrected paperwork. I've had it with them and am willing to sacrifice a really good doc to avoid the aggravation.

I live in West Roxbury but I'm willing to travel within reason.

My one criterion is that it NOT be someone affiliated with Brigham and Women at their 850 Boylston or Faulkner offices.

Thanks :-)

I've had a great experience with Dr. Daniel Steinberg in Chestnut Hill. I went to him initially because of his glowing reviews online and they are well-deserved. He takes the time to explain your condition and treatment plan in understandable and not condescending manner. He is the only doctor in Boston that I go out of my way to recommend to strangers, and unfortunately I've met quite a few different doctors in the area.

The clinic is affiliated with the Beth Israel system.

Thank you both! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your response. Shrinkberry, one more question if I could: If you had to call and leave a message, is the call returned? BI is a plus.

And Joshua, thank you, too. I LOVE patients ratings. I know there can be sour grapes people but I'm attuned to them. I've given my doctor a great rating, but oh, that office!!

Thanks again!

I tend to call doctors offices during business hours and was always able to reach a member of the office staff. There was about 2 office staff members on duty during each of my visits. I recall the office staff proactively calling me to collect insurance information and double-check coverage a few days prior to my first visit. The staff always seemed on top of everything. It is a small practice - Dr Steinberg is one of two physicians - so I think they make an effort to treat his patients well in every respect.

I went to his website and it looks like you can even book an appointment online. Looks like some doctors offices are finally joining the 21st century.
