So what is the total you pay for internet and the basic cable?
At present, about $42/month including taxes. With the price increase, probably $46-47/month.

Yeah, that "locked" part is what left a bad taste in my mouth. However, from what I can tell Comcast is far more horrible, and my area isn't eligible for FIOS.

As far as not bothering to buy a TV: "Dude!" I've done without one since May '05 and am none the worse for it. It's always good to find a fellow traveler of any kind.
How are the martial arts and running going? (Regarding the latter, it looks like indoor treadmill weather for the rest of the week...) I hope by now you've connected with SRR.
Yeah I can't say I miss TV at all...I last owned one in the fall of 2006, left it with the first wife.

Haven't done any martial arts yet, but the running is going great...this is most running-friendly environment I've ever been in! Just did a 21 miler this afternoon from Cambridge to Waltham and back along the river, in preparation for a February marathon. The weather's been no deterrent, since I'm fine down to about 5F and have decent rain gear, plus they actually plow the path alongside the river very diligently---this is one of the things I am most ecstatic about with this place!

Shee...try shelling out $108 and change a month for phone/Internet, with slow 'net connectivity and interminable waits on the phone for a "live representative," the way at least one Cantabrigian has to do. Those "most hated company" lists that crop up every time you turn around nearly always have Comcast on them for a reason!
