I was wondering what the job market is like in Boston. I'm planning a move there next summer and wanted to be prepared. I love the state of Massachusetts and have visited many times and I have decided to move there and take my chances to get on Boston PD. Obviously, I need a job while I obtain that goal. My career background is four years Active Duty Army, 3 years as a Supervisor in Retail and about a year in the Security Field. Also, an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. What are the job prospects for a background such as mine? I've looked online I can't find any real good sites for jobs except Craigslist and Monster.

Also, I'm quite aware of the difficulty of getting on the Boston PD and the year long residency to just to take the exam. I just want some people's opinion on job options and oppurtunities, not their advice of how hard it is to get on the police force. Thank you in advance.

Although I'm not in the security or retail field, in general Boston is doing OK with employment opportunities. One of the challenges her however is the cost of living.

Best of luck and thank you for your service.

That's good to know. I've used some price calculators to compare my city to Boston, and Boston would still pay me the same, but be 40% cheaper to live. I come from The Bay Area, so I'm use to high cost of living. Thank you for your reply.
