Boston as a major city imo is only good because of lots of nice jobs and little crime. Besides that it is cold, dark, boring, public transportation is bad (trains always packed during rush hour), traffic, concrete city, expensive homes, expensive to rent, everything expensive, extremely hot and humid during the summer, etc. Even the public schools here are horrible. I guess it's good for college students but beside that it's crappy imo. Only reason I live here is because every single one of my family live here...oh and my job. If not for them I would have moved out in a heart beat.

I agree with all of this. The people are generally not nice here either. Yes, trains are packed but I would say the public transit is pretty good. Admittedly, VERY frustrating at times when the train/ bus pulls up and people who weren't waiting that long shove by you... Who am I kidding, transit is 50-50. But as far as frequency, routes, and not needing a car, it's good.

To me, one of Boston's saving graces (if you want to call it that) is Sam LaGrassa's on Province Street. Never will you ever find a sandwich that good. Haymarket pizza is 1.50 a slice and phenomenal. But it's tough to break into, and unless you've got an excellent paying job, went to school here, or are from here, you probably wouldn't enjoy yourself. It's not all its cracked up to be. I plan on moving as soon as humanly possible
